The High-Speed Rail in Siculia is composed by lines connecting the major cities present at Siculia. High speed rail in Siculia was founded in 1964 by entering competing with the highway and air traffic. Currently trains can reach a maximum speed of 320 Km/h in the northern and Central Islands while in South Central Islands there are plans to bring the rail network at speeds of 320 Km/h In railway expansion project includes a study on the possible construction of a railway line with maglev trains. The main operator of high-speed train transportation is Siculia Railway Corporation.

History

Fascist period

During the Fascist period the entire rail network was eletrificata and the Government was focusing on the development of the railway network along the highway. During this period the Siculia Heavy Industries had developed a new train that could reach 150 Km/h in minutes starting to pave the way for high speed rail. The success of this train has paved the way for high speed rail and the fast train project.

After the success of the HST-0 towards the period of 1940 the Siculia Heavy Industries development his succesor to the name HST-100 becoming an icon and national pride where he managed to overcome his Italian counterpart ETR 200 with a top speed of 205 Km/h, confirming the success of rail transport in Siculia. With Attack on Pearl Harbor and Siculia's entry into the war the design of high speed rail is interoppe to give priority to military activities temporarily closing the golden age of railroads in Siculia.

After the second world war the Government concetrò on the development of the motorway network and while the railways start a period of internal crisis caused by the development of routes that, but after the acquisition by Siculia Financial 45% of the total shares, the design of high speed return but with a new model of organization. In 1985 it commissioned its second generation of tilting trains with the name HST-400 where than its predecessor HST-300 there is a change of design making it more aerodynamic. At this time the high speed network takes on the sembinze of modern rail network. After development of HST-400 the project of tilting trains is temporary suspended, except to resume the development toward 2010.

Modern times and high speed

In 1990 it developed a new high-speed train called HST-500 with a maximum speed of 300 Km/h inaguarndo the era of high-speed transport was an immediate success cause so much that Siculia Heavy Industries development in 2005 an updated version of the train called HST-600 with a speed of 320 Km/h and an aerodynamic design. In 2008 it developed HST-700 with a top speed of 340 Km/h. In 2009 is developed for the first time the train HST-800 the first double-decker train and with a top speed of 350 Km/h. In 2010 is designed a new tilting train named HST-900 with a maximum speed of 390 Km/h, but for security reasons is limited to 250 Km/h Max 300 Km/h. In 2016 is presented at pubblio HST-1000 the first train in Siculia that manages to reach a top speed of 400 Km/h. Next to this rapid progress of trains the entire network was modernized with a computer system and adopting a message system similar to ERTMS. Even today the railway network of Central-Southern Islands is nearing completion and updating to be able to support a maximum speed of 320 Km/h. One such project is the Bridge over the Straits of West Point that is under construction.

All lines are identified with specific names that characterize the region being crossed. The most important lines are identified by the name "Direttissima" that identifies a specific network designed to connect multiple points of Siculia.
