The Balaton Republic (Officially The Free and Proud Balaton Republic or Balaton Köztársaság), is a landlocked country in Central Europe, located between Hungary, Slovakia, Austria, Slovenia and Croatia. The Country's capital is Győr and the largest city is Pécs. It is member of the OECD, the Schengen Area as well as the Alliance of Independent Nations. Official language is Hungarian, regionally recognized (near the Border to Austria) is also German. The Balaton Republic formed itself out of the five westernmost provinces of the People's Republic of Hungary in 1956.
