Gettin' paper..

Postby Jacob » January 8th 2012, 5:02 am

Ciarnesian Leu
The Ciarnesian Leu was introduced in 1994 as a replacement for the inflated Romanian Leu as Ciarnesia's national currency. It was introduced at the exchange rate of 1 CZL = 301,629 ROL (1 CZL = 8.83 USD) and is now at an exchange rate of 1 CZL = 2.02 USD

Nice Work

But why was Ciarnesia using Romania's currency before?

A couple of reasons,

 • Trying to move off of the "Soviet Bloc" after independence by not using Rubles/Karbovanets
 • No money production facilities existed in the country at the time
 • Stronger economic connections with Romania and Moldova - the money could easily be transited and spent throughout the three countries.
 • The economy was very bad at the time and had just started growing, so hyperinflation (which is why the Romanian Leu was phased out) was predicted

Nice design but that exchange rate is very unrealistic. How could Leu value more than the US dollars?

I think I wrote that wrong. It takes 1.36 Leu to make a US Dollar.. so would it be 1.36 Leu = 1 USD?

From now on I will post monthly updates on the currency's exchange rate as it is rising quickly.

MAY EXCHANGE RATE:
1 USD = 2.02 CZL
1 EUR = 2.57 CZL
1 GBP = 3.24 CZL
1 RON = 0.58 CZL

Something doesn't look right about some of those rates. The euro and pound are both worth more than the dollar, so shouldn't they be worth more lei as well?

If I'm doing my math right, then based on your stated RON-CZL exchange rate and RON exchange rates as of this post, CZL rates should be:
1 USD = 1.97 CZL
1 EUR = 2.53 CZL
1 GBP = 3.16 CZL

All the same, I like the initiative you're taking on this. We could use more economic roleplay!
Feel brand new. Be inspired.

1 USD = 2.02 CZL is the basic exchange rate here, I was having a hard time converting it into the other currencies though. RON-CZL was a conversion from USD-CZL. I believe what I did was convert 2.02 USD to the other currencies.. but I doubt that's the correct method?

EDIT: I figured it out, I took 2.02 and divided it by the conversion of 1 USD to the currency.

Hmmm... You should show it with the Kuwaiti Dinar, too.

Actually, I already did. :P

1 KWD = 7.64 CZL. :D
