I think you are all massively overspending. RMI has a total annual budget of around $330 million. For everything. And you're spending upwards of $60 million on the rights to one sports event? And Leeonia is half the size of Cattala!

This is quite ridiculous and I'm rather tempted not to bid at all. I've actually been working on a roleplay to get the funding in place, but this is just childish squabbling with fictitious sums of floating money.

Ok, I understand that was a tad reckless, I take that back, but I do want my tenders back from Lovedelund

So far, CELB has only spent 21 million USD. Given that Sainte-Croix is roughly three times larger than Cattala, I don't think this is going overboard. However, I do agree that more than 50 million USD is going way overboard for any nation. Perhaps we could get Will to push down the minimum tender price to 1 million USD instead, so that more nations can realistically afford to broadcast.

Sainte-Croix was not the target of my criticism, Emir, so don't worry about that.

Only rights you really hear about in Australia are the Olympics and the Aussie Rules football... and those tend to become quite ridiculous, the football was a 4year contract valued at A$1.253 billion while the Olympic bid of $90 million for the exclusive rights to broadcast the Rio De Janiero Games in Australia was knocked backed. We paid $42million for London Olympics and $52million for the Vancouver winter games.

Values seem to be attributed to time of day compared to the host nation and the broadcast nation, the closer to the host time zone the higher the costs apparently, and on the opposite side of the world is lower, since it will most likely be played live when people are sleeping and replayed later once everyone already knows the results.

So I think $10million USD is acceptable for these games, I'd suggest a bidding war in NH between rival tv channels and similar in ND and Oka, while Europe I'd expect to see a more conservative approach when you factor in the time zone difference and the current state of the economies.

I'm also enjoying the bidding war in USA .. we've yet to see the other Northern American Nations to apply yet..
Coming soon, new information.

Remember, we agreed that ABN already had the rights for Histalpol. You don't need to worry about anything. :)
