Otto for President

We will soon need a new president, and we already need a new Minister of Finance and Information. This is your place to run for either of these two offices and vote for your preferred candidates. It's your choice, AIN!

Looks and sounds great Otto .. although you mention mandatory participation.. what is the consequence of one not participating? Also, how do you expect to get everyone participating, like those on leave, ect?
Coming soon, new information.

Those on leave will be excused Fox. But as for mandatory participation, the consequence of not participating will I think be leave from AIN, but maybe a bit to harsh, I think it should be combined with 6 weeks of non-activity, cause it's always the same 15 or so who sign up for an event out of 20 so, the other 5 or more hardly ever get online at all.

I think people might understand me wrong on my call for mandatory events. I do not want to get rid of members asap - obviously. But having a mandatory participation might relieve us of that burden to always get members to sign up on time and would probably relieve us of the shame of an AINVision with - let's say only 12 members, because all others are unwilling to participate or simply forgot the deadline.

Not participating without excuse will give you a warning, after two warnings, a committee decides whether the member should remain in the union or not.

I'm sorry, but I can't support your idea of making AINvision mandatory. AINvision is just supposed to be a fun singing contest, and you can't force people to sign-up, just as you can't force people to sign-up for other events.

I really think you need to think this over before dragging members to the sign-up page.

Well, where would be the fun if we had a contest of 13 nations? And I think it might not even get passed by Parliament anyways. Of course, i wouldn't use my presidential position to force through my ideas, all ideas for enhancing the Union should and MUST be passed by the membership anyways. So maybe, that wouldn't even get passed.

I think you all are seeing some ghosts in this posts you don't like however you might not realize that the membership always has a bigger call than the president alone. It is an idea of mine, this does not mean that it will be implemented.

Well, there is no such thing as "forced fun". 13 nations is disappointing, but we have to make the best of what we have. Mandating participation will not only force members to participate in a contest they don't want to, it'll be too much work for us admins to enforce it.

Well, if we had only a small minority of members participating in MAIN events (hence the name), our Union is doomed to fall into inactivity. Our main Events are the backbone of this Union, and if we had less and less participation from event to event, and only a core group of members is participating, then we could without any problems just give up regular union-wide activity. I think that events are more fun the more members participate. Obviously it is also a bit more work, but the result looks better. ;]

Maybe Mandatory Participation is the wrong call, but rather connect big events with member checkpoints. We have almost half of our members on leave or inactive. This is unacceptable.
