Sainte-Mégare, Chilaibourg

Postby RedAurora » August 17th 2013, 6:42 pm

More mosaics! Welcome to Sainte-Mégare! This tiny city of little over ninety thousand inhabitants is home to the largest industrial port in the nation...

Still working on it at the moment, of course...

Nice so far!
Station could do with a bit of re-arranging, or use a different lot perhaps. And you know my opinion of post-humanity transport. :P

Thanks for the suggestions, Thomas! :D And if you mean the lack of cars with "post-humanity transport", I don't know how that happened. D: I swear there was a whole bunch of traffic there, then all of the cars just inexplicably disappeared. Although, if you look closely, there are still a few cars. :P

Whoa... I don't like it. Maxis industry (I think you can use Jestarr's factories here) and trees look very bad. Also polish blocks of flats are too dense. I think that you need to change texture of the road, because current is ugly. Nonetheless, the port looks great, I'm waiting for more pics.

I agree with Piter, especially for the roads, but also I don't really like how the 2nd section of diagonals look, maybe if viewed from the front maybe, but seeing the naked backside of it looks weird, also I don't like the churches or olden buildings being somewhere like that, just don't really fit totally right with me. But apart from that, looks awesome.

Piterdaw1: Thanks. But I don't see why the Maxis factories or the trees look bad. That is supposed to be an industrial area, and is supposed to connect to the port. It is also supposed to be dense, as the entire city is only 25 square kilometres. As for the roads, they are NAM's European texture, so they should fit the region. In fact, I believe that we use the same road texture.

YingBlanc: Thank you. As I said to Piotr, the roads are as they are because of the NAM description. The 2nd section of diagonals, I can see the problem, but I didn't know how else to place them. The churches have been there for several centuries, it's just that their surroundings have changed and been modified, so everything has been placed with regards to history and location.

I can accept everything you told Piter and what you were saying about the 2nd set of diagonals (trees won't work). But I have to say, for the factories, I have a catalogue of BAT factories that I use instead of Maxis factories, and I don't think the industrial area looks dense enough.

I know, I have seen the factories you use. But I use a mod that organises and rearranges Maxis industrial buildings into better looking lots. I agree that they look a little too sparse, but once again, I am still working on the city.

Good effort Emir! I like the canal! Not sure about the railway lines or the lack of bridge over the highway. :P

Thanks, Will! :D Yeah, I realise there are a few railway lines there that do not continue. D: The bridge however fell just outside of the shot. :(

That's what I would do Emir, I hope you can make sense out of that :P Maybe even a draw bridge instead of a roundabout? Idk, but what I'm trying to say is that if you organized your blocks a bit more, and didn't use so many road corners, it would probably look much better :)

Out of interest, what's the building next to the sunken road below Ace's green writing?
