The International Organization of Italophonia (IOI, in Italian Organizzazione Internazionale dell’Italofonia) is an international organization representing the nations and regions where the Italian language is a mother tongue or a common language; and/or where a significant proportion of the population is Italian-speaking; and/or where there is considerable affiliation with Italian culture.

Its missions are:
- Promote the Italian language
- Promote peace, democracy and human rights
- Help education, training and research
- Encourage collaboration and development

Actual members of the organization are Acadia, Mikenstein, Poemia, Santa Catarina and Siculia.
Every country satisfying the requisites is welcome to join us!
And of course, every country wanting to cooperate with the IOI is free to contact us!

Here's the map showing actual members:

Hope we'll have some more Italian-speaking countries to add in the future! ;)

(Since the rules forbid to role-play with RL countries, I didn't add Italy, San Marino, the Vatican, Albania, Somalia, Eritrea, Libya and Argentina... But of course they can be considered members too, with of course Italy as the official seat of the IOI...)

I would definitely include the other (RL) members, in a different shade of green perhaps?

Shame ND doesn't have a large enough populace of Italian speakers, but gives me the idea that the Francophonie union should be brought up in AIN, too?

And perhaps a German one too? Or would that just be me and Neu Westfalen?

Balaton has recognized German as a regional language in the westernmost parts of the country, bordering to Austria. And K&B has quite a large German minority.

Francophone union would be cool with Carolina. Unfortunately we don't have many Italian speakers here (most have integrated into the native languages they live in)

Well this is the Italanophone forum. Perhaps we'll end the discussion on German until something official isn't set up. :p
