So, you're saying that the claims from the 1920s were merged into the Alliance program let's say in the '60s? (if we go with that route in the union history)

We'll like I said: pretty much any friendly nation could set up a base there if they asked to. I think it would be more realistic if they were partitioned by nation, as per real life. I suppose an Alliance Antarctic territory could work in theory, but I doubt such a thing would happen IRL. I think we should propose both ideas and see what the membership thinks.

I still would go for the original plan. I think it's more realistic.

Who is talking about the Antartic? Its ours.... and only ours..... :smirk: jk

But i don't see a problem, if anyone make a claim, just realisticly, most of the nations in real world react with screaming and propaganda post about anything Antartic releated :P

Or perhaps, a treaty was signed between the AIN states with Antarctic operations (not necessarily claims, but some form of base in the Antarctic) to co-operate under an Alliance Antarctic Survey. They could still have their individual claims, but they'd be run multilaterally by the AAS.

I definitely think this could work. I read in an earlier post about setting up an Arctic claim for northern states, and would be more interested in that rather than having a Lovedelundian claim in Antarctica. Of course, being a state of the far north, Lovedelund has had a long history of alpine climate exploration primarily in Greenland and other various small islands.

But since Nat proposed the Arctic idea, I have more interest in that. We claim it all  just kidding kids

I think Thomas's idea could work too, I'll give this a bit more time then I think we can put it to vote. Unless more needs to be clarified? :)

What would we be voting on? I'm not sure if New Holland would let it's territory be administered by the Alliance, I mean, it's not like the EU administers France's and the UK's.

Yeah that seems a bit odd imo, I prefer the original concept by Nat, with the closer oceanic nations having territories.

In that case we could do a multi choice vote prehaps?

I'd only agree to the currently unclaimed area being claimed by Neu Westfalen as it is directly below the Nation. I'd suggest anyone else wanting to stake a claim have their own individual claim threads.
Coming soon, new information.

What's the point in that, let's get it over with all at once.

That's not what I was proposing... I was proposing for the member states that have Antarctic claims work together under the umbrella of the Alliance Antarctic Survey, sharing research and technology. Similar to the Alliance Scientific Institute.

Maybe the AOIN as a whole could claim some part of the Antarctic, under some rules countries could do research ect. ect. funded, or at least partly funded by the Alliance. I dunno, just an Idea.

Ok so I think we should move this along now. Anyway from the discussions so far we have two ideas:

An Alliance Antarctic Survey (AAS) sharing territories between all AIN nations. These would still have to be based on the claims by the eligible nations listed in OP.
OR
Each eligible nation has it's own territorial claims (as per the OP). These nations would still be encouraged to allow other AIN nations to conduct research; as per real life.

What do you think, should we put this to a vote? :geek:
