Road Signs of New Duveland

Post by Charlie » September 15th 2016, 3:24 pm

Yup, looks like I've jumped on the bandwagon too!
We'll start of with the basic speed signs, going from 40km/h up to 110km/h:

40km'h zones are found in dense strip shop communities in the centre of suburbs and regional towns
50km/h is the base speed for all residential/built up areas in New Duveland
60km/h is the average speed for the smaller main roads
70km/h is the average speed for medium main roads
80km/h is the average for larger main roads
90km/h is rare, but often used in freeway tunnels
100km/h is the set speed for all urban freeway systems
110km/h is the maximum limit, found only along freeways in the countryside

Being a trilingual country, you get some pretty crazy stop signs...

While Maori on road signs is only common in the south of New Ulster and regional Norfolk, French is almost always seen alongside English.
For one way signs:

To school zones:

To freeway entrances:

And even on the numerous hook-turns found throughout the provincial capitals:

Although some regional signs will be in just one language, like the no entrance ones:

All Freeways and highways are marked according to their status, such as for the national highways:

National routes:

And Provincial routes:

You'll also find some signs without any words, like for pedestrian zones:

Areas with high quantities of the national bird, the flightless Moa.
You don't want to hit one of these on the freeway, they'll completely total your car and then chase after you for spraining their ankle!

And some as simple as for giving way:

Don't forget, New Duveland is a big country too! Just look at all these distances in km!
Image

But don't worry, closer to the cities the distances are far smaller:

Don't miss your exit!

Well that's it for now, let's hope everyone jumps aboard this train! :P

I've been trying not to comment but I have to say something about this:
WOW! This are really cool ideas and it's got me thinking about how Carolina will work. I really love these threads but this one might take the cake

Yup you don't want to encounter a Moa on the roads, at over 2m tall and upwards of 300kg, they'll definitely show you who's boss! :P
But cheers guys, maybe there'll be more signs later, this was a fun trend to hop on board with! :P
