Government of Histalpol Announcement Centre

Post by YingBlanc » July 4th 2013, 6:46 pm

All the official Government of Histalpol announcements and changes (inside and out) will be posted here. For foreign affairs, please see the Foreign Relations thread, for the Trade thread, visit the Allience Trade Organisation thread.

As mandatory, anything with blue text in this font format, is roleplay, if not, then it should not be taken to heart and is not an official government announcement by anybody in the Government of Histalpol.

Governmental Hierarchy

This is my first draft of it, it's a good start, I believe it's all reasonable as it can for a modified government system for Histalpol. If you have any opinions or comments, write it below, I'd like to know how I can improve it :P

2013 Government Ministry and Title Logo Update - First Batch

This is the first batch of official government ministry and title logos which is updated on the old format, that being this...

Image

...which is blurry and rubbish in how official it looks, the logos shown above in my opinion are more professional in look, mostly because it's based on Thomas' logos :P. This is just the first batch, I have all the ministries to go under both Departments.

Vivian-Alexandre Lawence Act (2013)
The RH Minister of Justice, Damien Eulyssen joined by the Chief of Police of the Bastilia Metropolitan Police Force, Michael Tóulánnes

I have announced this conference today joined by the Chief of Police of the Bastilia Met Police, Michael Tóulánnes to announce a new act that will be tested, before going to vote in the Major Exposition House, inside of the Greater Bastilia conurbation, following the steps of the Manchester Police Force, in the recording and responding to hate crimes of civilians of an ‘Alternative Sub-Culture’ which include and are not limited to ‘emos’, ‘goths’, ‘sceen’ and anybody of a fandom. This will be added in Bastilia onto laws on hate crime towards disability, ethnicity, religion or belief, sexual orientation and transgender identities.

The act had been successfully petitioned by the Lawence Brothers Charity and the Lawence family. The brothers in early 2012 were killed by 19 year old George Aescolp premeditatedly outside of a club in Renné because of their emo lifestyle, and finally this act could make a year of petitioning and campaigning for the family of Vivian and Alexandre Lawence, who were torn apart by a horrible crime, worth their time and effort, and will potentially save the lives of many other young adults who are victims to hate crimes that are not recognised and go unpunished until it is too late. The new law has previously been tested in the British city of Manchester, with seemingly great success, and are greatly anticipating the same result, so that this law can be voted in legally by the Major and Minor Exposition Houses.

We hope that this law while in practise will enhance the lives of many of the young adults who are victim to these crimes and we both ask that if you have questions, please call the Bastilia Metropolitan Police force on our non-emergency-information phone number at (359) or visit at the official website for the police force. We thank you all for your presence, and wish you all a safe trip.

 Sounds great! I hate having to hear attacks on people by ignorant lunatics just because of the way they dress or how they look. |(

A big congratulations to the Bastilia Metropolitan Police for implementing this act. :D

Hmm, it sounds righteous at first glance, but in practice would it actually just arrest people for speaking words or being rude? People shouldn't be arrested for something they say, no matter what it is; excluding deliberately inciting people to violence (as per the US).

I don't often agree with a lot of US policy but they really are far, far ahead of most nations when it comes to free speech. One thing I really hate about western Europe in contrast is it's obsession with political correctness, even to the point of branding people criminals for just casually calling someone a name. They're just words. If a bully at school calls you something at school - just tell the teacher, don't run to the police.
And yes believe it or not that actually has happened in the UK. I can't remember exactly, but I think it was a young English girl who pointed out a foreign kid "had a black face". Anyway the Marxist/Left-wing teacher put her on some sort of national database of 'evil little haters' and called the police. |(

I think it's the first step towards soft-authoritarianism when a government starts trying to control what people say and think. I say just live and let live when it comes to speech, as there is always going to be someone who will slander you no matter what you do. Waste of time, money and energy to enforce it as well. Anyway I'm sure Emir has a retort coming, so we'll see where this goes. ;)

Thanks Emir, and Nat, your not getting it, it's not name calling or being rude, it's assault, the normal for hate crimes, assault, murder, blackmail, all that sort.

Ok so just incitement to violence or threats then? That's fine.

I will respond to this indeed. ;) I don't want to start a debate on it, but I'll still make my retort. :P

US isn't "far ahead" of any nation on free speech. Sure, you can say most things that you like, but it's not as free as you think. There are so many examples to put, where police arrest protesters out of nowhere. One major example is the Occupy Wall Street protests when they reached their height in 2011. Police arrested hundreds of protesters because they were wearing Guy Fawkes masks. Protests are regularly broken up by police due to many ridiculous reasons, and both the left and the right agree that the right to free speech is being curtailed (although I generally don't agree with the reasons by the right-wing).

As for political correctness, often it is necessary, isn't it? You would be scared too if thousands of National Socialists were marching down your neighbourhood in uniforms shouting racist names, calling for "white power" and violence against minorities. This happens on a regular basis in different US cities; imagine the minorities who are scared to step out onto the street in fear of being attacked. I haven't heard of your example of the girl saying "black face"; I agree that telling the girl not to repeat saying it or something would've been easier, but contacting authorities certainly doesn't make the teacher a Marxist. |( How do you know what political affiliations he/she holds, maybe he/she's Conservative...

I also don't want to cut down on freedom of speech, but when many human beings are so uncompassionate and so cruel as to attack others due to their way of life or background, some action is necessary to protect the individuals being attacked. This is why Sainte-Croix is a signatory of Article 14 for this convention: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internatio ... rimination
