Innovation and Investment Emporium

Introduction

As announced in my election campaign, plans are underway to create a replacement for the Import/Export Centre that we used to have on the old forums. As part of these plans, it was decided that instead of having an Import/Export Centre, an Innovation and Investment Emporium would better suit the versatile needs of AIN members.

The IIE will allow companies and nations to roleplay investment pitches within the Ministry, seek funds from sovereign wealth funds and the Ministry to expand business or diversify a company. Within the IIE, members will be able to represent corporations based in their countries, who want to accept or refuse an investment opportunity or if a company wishes to begin selling their product in your country, your corporations will have a say in whether they're interested in buying that product.

Eg: Ontano Wines, from Cattala, wants to begin selling wines in Exaletas. Exaleta's main wine retailer, Exavino, sees an opportunity to exclusively import Ontano Wines to Exaletas. In the Emporium, the two companies agree on a price for the sale.
Ontano Wines also wants to expand its farm by a further 100 acres. To do this, they require extra finance. Royal Bank of Ascadylea discusses with Ontano Wines the prospect of a loan, but it falls through. Lower Columbia's sovereign wealth fund, LCNF, steps in and buys 10% of Ontano Wines in return for the $10 million required for the expansion.

The floor is open...

1. Do you like the idea of the Innovation and Investment Emporium?
2. Do you believe it could work successfully in the long-term? (if not, please explain why)
3. Would you like to see it as a sub-forum in the Ministry, or a forum of its own?
4. Do you have any other suggestions to improve the idea, and will you support the creation of the Emporium?

As always, there's several ways you can put across your views.

~ Answer the questions posted above.
~ Ask your own questions to the Ministry and other members in here about the topic of discussion.
~ PM or Skype the Minister and suggest your own topics of discussion, changes to the order/structure of the summit and your own questions.

Heads of State, Fellow Finance Ministers, Delegates,

The Innovation and Investment Emporium (IIE), with it's ability to represent national corporations in an international context, has the potential to develop into a powerful and meaningful tool to further the economic goals of AIN member states. In addition, this move will complement the AINERO Free Trade Zone to further remove trade barriers that currently exist within the status quo, resulting in a much more liberalised economic climate within the Alliance, which will stimulate further growth and spur job creation.

The IIE will encourage national corporations to play fairy and freely, as well as take steps to improve their competitiveness, since the IIE essentially opens the floodgates for foreign investment into other countries, denying companies exclusive rights into a certain segment of the economy. This demolishes monopolies and duopolies within the Alliance, and will result in lower prices and better products for consumers. The streamlining of companies during this process also ensures them profitability and success in the long-term.

To ensure that the IIE is the preferred way for companies and governments to interact and negotiate with each other, the IIE should have a dedicated forum to ease accessibility.

The IIE could incorporate the idea of open bidding, whereupon governments could have open tenders for companies throughout the Alliance before picking the best candidate for the contract. This open bidding process improves competition between countries and allows Governments to pick the best candidates.

Therefore, COrraile supports the establishment of the IIE, and urges other countries to do the same.

Thank You

Open tenders sounds fantastic Kevin, that would be a brilliant way of using the IIE. :)

Atlantsia fully agrees with the idea of opening an IIE dedicated forum (not a subforum). We believe that the impication of the IIE will help strengthen long-term ties and also increase competitiveness between nations, resulting in the best overall price for the consumer. As suggested by Corraile, Atlantsia supports the Open Tenders idea. We will consider suggestions and possible improvements for the ministry, but at the moment, none have come to mind. We nonetheless hope to see this ministry implemented soon!

Thank you

^ A forum is similiar to the Ministry of Environment, Agriculture, and Transport, a sub-forum would be like the "Airlines & Airports" section within it.

I know unrelated... but I just love that picture!!!!

The Parliamentary Republic of Hokkodo Feels that this would be a great deal of help to many companies in Hokkodo, and around AIN, would fully support this endeavor, and is hoping for a long and successful existence.

Torglavia believes that a Innovation and Investment Emporium would be a great new feature to the AIN for the reason stated above. Torglavia's delegates is also happy with being in such amazing surrounding.

1. Do you like the idea of the Innovation and Investment Emporium?
We like the idea of the IIE. We think that it will sure help to make out economy better.
2. Do you believe it could work successfully in the long-term? (if not, please explain why)
Long-term? Well that depends what the political developments are. As long as we don't declare war to each other and both parties try to strive for capital accumulation it will work on the long term.
3. Would you like to see it as a sub-forum in the Ministry, or a forum of its own?
Whatever you think is best
4. Do you have any other suggestions to improve the idea, and will you support the creation of the Emporium?
I think it's good as you explained it. It will surely help us and our economies. We think that getting an business center in every country would help stimulate this idea, but don't make things to expensive, because that's what the Analysts of Valsgärde don't like.
