AIN Airlines

Post by Otto » October 11th 2016, 5:17 pm

Folks,

I have looked through your airlines' wiki pages and most of them are shocking. I doesn't have to be very detailed, but at least keep them realistic. Having an airline of 140 A380s and 120 B747-8is is beyond ridiculous. (Emirates is currently the biggest A380 user, and they have 81, the largest B747-8 operator is Air China with 30).

So please, I advise you all to check your airline wiki pages and adjust them. It doesn't have to be the biggest and most modern planes that you connect your country with, but rather a realistic fleet (and size).

Cheers.

If anyone is afraid of doing so, please feel free to contact me. On Saturday, I will put myself to work, creating realistic airline fleets for those of you who ask me to. If you don't know which aircraft type has what range and should fly what distance, etc. PM me with your airline's needs and I will create a realistic fleet for you.

I haven't made any airline pages myself yet, but I'll keep this in mind. I think sometimes people get carried away a bit.

I feel like the union is going through a house-cleaning at the moment, so adding to this...

I feel some of the top HDI stats are way too high as well. The top 3 in real life are Norway on 0.944 (fully-developed, super-rich oil state), Australia on 0.935 (mineral-rich, fully-developed state with no major internal or strategic threats) and Switzerland on 0.930 (tax-haven, financial powerhouse & home to many international HQ's due to its neutrality).
I feel any HDI exceeding 0.950 is simply unrealistic. And others have HDIs well over (and sometimes well below) their closest real-world equivalents. Could we perhaps go through an HDI revision with members? With their input of course.

I know most people want to have the 'best' country, but we must be reasonable. Just my two cents.

Thanks for these reminders. I think the AIN Council should probably do something about how keeping things about one country realistic. :)

ColumbiAir's fleet should be fine, due to it being designed by an air buff (mike_oxlong, who also designed the airline's liveries). Please let me know if anything is out of whack.

I'll be working on mine, but i'll keep it in mind, and my flag carrier will draw a lot of basis from Air New Zealand, my other lines will be derived from what I gather from that. I'll have to adjust some of the flights i've declared within the union it looks, issue arises that it's around 9,000 kilometers from South Belfast to LAX and I would like some trans-pacific flights. Some A319's can do this i'm reading?

There is an A319CJ-LR, which allows up to 11.000km, however they only have capacity for 20 people in an exclusively Business Class layout. Not profitable. Anything larger than an A330-200 can handle that route.

ColumbiAir is fine.
